Power Rankings Heading into Week 8

1. When We Were Young: Still undefeated, but finally had a tough game last week against GPAK.  With less than 2 mins left When We Were Young were only up by a field goal.  This team is two wins away from a perfect season, this week they play an unpredictable DX team.

 2. GPAK: Yes they lost last week and are on a losing streak currently, but they went down to the wire with the best team in the league and deserve to be bumped up in these rankings.  They play one of the hottest teams in the league this week in Buzz City, should be a closer game than the first time they played each other.

 3. New Era Ballaz: Currently they are 6-1 and somehow fell in these rankings, thats because they played a BNB team that was on the bottom of these rankings and barely won.  New Era didn't have much size against BNB and got dominated down low, lets hope the bigs for New Era start showing up or else they will have a tough time against the teams with big men.

 4. Buzz CityThey have won 3 in a row and each win has been by double digits or more.  This team is playing like the team that was ranked number 3 in the power rankings to start the season, let see if they can keep it going.  They play GPAK this week and this is probably the game of the week this week.

 5. DX: Two weeks in a row they have been a part of nail biters squeaking out last second victories.  Last week they blew a 26 point lead and were down by 1 in the final moments against Just Dua It.  They did manage to win the game, but had they lost they would of fell even further on these rankings for the second half melt down.

 6. MWA: First half against Buzz City was a good game as both teams went back and forth, but in the second half MWA faded and ended up losing by 10.  MWA plays New Era this week, another good matchup here.

 7. Just Dua It: First half last week this team struggled and didn't look like they came to play.  The second half was a totally different story, they almost pulled off one of the greatest comebacks ever by coming back from 26 and losing just by 2 pts.  This week is huge for them against BNB, neither of these two teams want to play the number 1 team in the playoffs.  Must win week for Just Dua It.

 8. Bad News Beards: BNB played really well last week and took New Era to the finally shot of the game.  They had better attendance and really benefitted their play.  This week is a must win week for them as they play Just Dua It.

Power Rankings Heading into Week 7

1. When We Were Young: And then there was only one.  The only undefeated team in the league now after easily handing out a loss to New Era Ballaz last week.  They put on a shooting display last week hitting 13 threes as a team, they will look to continue their dominance this week against GPAK.  These two teams are familiar with one another, will GPAK be able to find a way to stop this squad?

 2. New Era Ballaz: They took their first loss last week to When We Were Young, game was more lopsided than what most anticipated.  They didn't hit the shots they have had in previous weeks, they need to regroup and get back on the winning track this week against a struggling BNB squad.

 3. DX: Overtime thriller against GPAK with DX jumping out to a lead in OT and holding onto a big win.  This game was the game of the year as it truly came down to the last shot.  DX has had it's ups and downs this season, consistency is what they'll need to close out the season and carry into the playoffs.

 4. GPAK: The final shot in OT looked good but rimmed out and they got the L in Week 6.  They played well for not having Rob last week and will really need him this week against When We Were Young.  A GPAK team at full strength should make things interesting against When We Were Young, this will be the game of the week this week.

 5. MWA: Since the addition of Bilal they are 2-1, the offense has looked a lot better than it did the first few weeks.  They easily beat BNB last week and will have a nice matchup this week with another team that has been hot in Buzz City.  This should be a good matchup if there aren't attendance issues.

 6. Buzz City: Took them a while to find their stride, but now they really look like one of the better teams in the league.  Alat had one of the most dominating performances last week, the man couldn't be stopped and the rest of the team did their part. Big game against MWA this week, should be a close one.

 7. Just Dua It: They have played better as a team each week and just have had some tough losses.  They are a talented squad and any team that looks past them will realize they made a mistake.  They have DX this week, DX has lost some games this year where they have been favored this could be another one.

 8. Bad News Beards: The week 1 win seems like it was a while ago and things have been rough for them since.  Last week they didn't have much depth as there were only 6 players available for them and it hindered their chances in keeping up with MWA.  Injuries may be the reason for their lack of depth right now, hopefully they get healthy for the rest of the regular season and can carry it into the playoffs.

Power Rankings Heading into Week 5

1. When We Were Young: Still sitting up on top, they actually got tested last week against Just Dua It. The game was closer than what most thought, up next a MWA team that just came off a big upset win over DX.

 2. New Era Ballaz: Still undefeated as well, had a slow start against Buzz City but came back and won by 10. This week's match up against DX should be a good one, lets see if the New Era Ballaz can make it 5 in a row.

 3. GPAK: Put up 60 pts in Week 4 and easily won against BNB. They play Just Dua It this week, should be a good game with Just Dua It playing better each week.

 4. DX: Tough loss in Week 4 to MWA. Not many saw that coming and now DX is .500 on the season. Look for DX to come out hungry in week 5 and make amends for their week 4 loss.

 5. Just Dua It: With the addition of Ala before the roster deadline this team gave When We Were Young a test in Week 4. Another tough opponent this week in GPAK, Just Dua It will need to play some of their best ball of the season to get this win.

 6. MWA: With the addition of Bilal before the roster deadline they notched their first win of the season in week 4. Bilal led them in the upset win over DX, will he be able to contribute to another big win this week against When We Were Young?

 7. Buzz City: Still without a win this season, but looked better in week 4 as they were up for a bit against the New Era Ballaz. Finally this week they play a team that isn't top 4 in the rankings and should have better luck this week.

 8. Bad News Beards: Since winning in week 1, they have lost three in a row. Each of their losses have been by double digits, they need to put an end to that and get a big win against Buzz City this week.

Power Rankings Heading into Week 4

1. When We Were Young: Looks like they are on the quest for a perfect season. They have been the best team in the league since day 1 and have yet to have any slip ups. Jibran and Zahir are the two top scorers in the league and the rest of the team has done it's part. It is looking like they will be staying in this spot all season.

2. New Era Ballaz: New Era Ballaz are the only other team that is undefeated and they moved up 2 spots this week by defeating the previously undefeated powerhouse GPAK. Leading MVP vote-getter Abdul had an off night against GPAK, but the rest of the team stepped up and helped notch the win for them. The 3pt shooting of Sheroz played a huge part in their win and in turn kept the arrow pointing up in these rankings.

3. GPAK: This team took their first loss of the season last week, but did find a way to make a big comeback in the 2nd half. They were down double digits at halftime, when Robert took over in the 2nd half and put this team on his back. They came within a field goal, but ran out of time. Look for this team to bounce back this week and get back on the winning track.

4. DX: This team has won 2 in a row after their tough start to the season in week 1. The addition of Raza has been a big boost for them, he brings a lot of energy to this team and does it all on the court. Their 3 bigs have done their part in the 2 wins as well. This team is getting closer to finding their stride, but is still not there yet.

5. Bad News Beards: Even though this team lost last week and fell to 1-2 on the season, they were quite impressive playing shorthanded. Without their captain Adam and their big man Jay, this team kept it close the entire game against DX. First half the game went back and forth and in the second half this team wouldn't go down each time DX tried making a run. Omar and Faizan led this squad and almost pulled off the upset win for them. If this team builds off that they will win some big games in the coming weeks.

6. Just Dua It: Just Dua It got their first win of the season last week against MWA and moved up 2 spots in these rankings. Salman who has been their best player all season had another productive game for them with Abdul stepping up as well. This team was able to seal the game with Imran's clutch free throw shooting and will look to pull off the upset of the year this week against When We Were Young.

7. Buzz City: Once upon a time this team was ranked at the 3rd spot in these rankings but have fallen all the way down here after 3 weeks of play. Once again their tough schedule has a lot to do with it, the teams that they have played are 7-2 on the season right now. This team hasn't played up to par with their talent yet and when they do the wins will start coming their way, but that needs to happen sooner than later.

8. MWA: Another team that has really fallen in the rankings since the start of the season is this squad. They started the season with attendance issues and then the last couple of weeks they just haven't played well together. This team has talent but hasn't been able to find the rhythm. They have some tough games ahead in their schedule, hopefully they find the rhythm in those games.

Power Rankings Heading Into Week 3

1. When We Were Young: This team is playing on another level and is primed to stay up here all season.  They have 3 players that are in the MVP poll and all 3 have really stood out with their play thus far.  The entire team has shown great chemistry and it seems like they really feed off each other.

2. GPAK: They cooled off in week 2 from the hot start they had in week 1. First half of their game wasn't pretty, really low scoring and a lot of missed opportunities..  They stepped it up in the 2nd half and notched another double digit win.  This week they play another undefeated team in New Era Ballaz, should be a good game.

 3. DX: After a tough week 1 they came back in week 2 and squeezed out a big win against Buzz City.  This was probably the best game of the season as it came down to the final minute.  DX won by 4 points and one would assume they would be happy about that, but it seemed like they had some tension between themselves.  Long season they need to get on the same page.

 4. New Era Ballaz: They put together another solid performance in week 2 with a double digit win to stay perfect on the season, but now their schedule gets a lot harder. Lets see how they stack up against the top tier teams in the league.

 5. Buzz City: They have had the toughest schedule in the league to start the season.  They play the top 3 teams in the league in the first 3 weeks.  Their biggest obstacle comes this week as they play When We Were Young.  They almost pulled off a big win against DX, but fell short at the end. They really need to put together their best performance this week to avoid going 0-3.

 6. Bad News Beard: They are currently .500 right now and had a tough loss against the top team in the league last week.  The final score doesn't reflect their first half and they did put up a fight in the first half.  They looked tired in the second half and that is when the game got out of reach.  They do move up the power rankings this week, but will need two good halves to beat DX this week.

7. MWA: Attendance improved a little for this team in week 2, but are still missing some core players.  Looks like attendance will be an issue for them all season and it will really hinder their chances of making a run this season. They get to play Just Dua It this week, a loss here really puts them in a hole.

 8. Just Dua It: This team has struggled to put up points and is averaging the least points in the league so far.  This is their week to change all that, they play a MWA team that already has attendance issues, during the late slot.  Good chance MWA comes short handed, which should be a big opportunity for Just Dua It to get the W.
MSC Basketball 2016 Week 2 Highlights

Power Rankings Post Week 1

1. When We Were Young: Week 1 they went at it with the 2nd ranked team in the league and in the first half it went back and forth for the most part. The second half was a different story; this squad just took over and didn’t look back. They hit 3’s from all over (including Laraib’s half court ones too), forced turnovers, and showed the entire league why they are the top team in the league.

2. GPAK: Ranked as the underdog going into this game, but played as one of the elite teams of the league. They moved the ball well and really hustled throughout the entire game. Danny was a rebounding machine as predicted and the rest of the team hit big shots. As of right now this team is the favorite to hand When We Were Young a loss this season.

 3. DX: Last season they steam rolled through the competition each week, but found out this season the competition has gotten better. They played the best team in the league and just had a poor second half. They will bounce back and be a top team going forward.

 4. New Era Ballaz: This squad got off to a quick start in the first half by hitting 3s from all over, but cooled off in the 2nd half and allowed MWA to make a comeback.  They were able to take care of business and get the W though. The 3 ball will be a major factor on their rankings throughout the season.

 5. Buzz City: A combination of GPAK playing lights out and Buzz City dealing with tight jerseys really put a dent on their first week. They were ranked high going into the season and just didn’t play like it last week. With a tough schedule to start the season, they really need to get in form quick or will continue to fall in these rankings.

 6. MWA: They had the least amount of guys show up in week 1. They were missing their captain, key players, and had no bench. The guys that did show up played hard throughout the game and put together a nice comeback in the second half, but it was too little too late. They have a solid squad but commitment is the biggest question mark for this team.

 7. Bad News Beard: They went at it with Just Dua It in week 1 with both teams playing hard, but BNB came out with the victory. BNB led throughout the game and sealed it in the final minute. Big obstacle in their path for a win streak, they play the number 1 team this week, they’ll need to score a lot more than week 1 to pull off the upset this week.

 8. Just Dua It: Got off to a slow start in week 1 with shots just not falling, They’ll look for some more consistency in week 2 and also get themselves headed in the right direction in the rankings.

MSC BASKETBALL 2016 WEEK 1 HIGHLIGHTS

MSC Basketball Week 1 Scores

Early Power Rankings MSC Basketball 2016

1. When We Were Young: This team has some young energetic guys and they live by the 3. On paper they look really good but availability of certain players will play a big role on how good they really are.
 2. DX: The Skyscrapers (their 3 bigs) as they were known as in season 1, dominated the paint every week and will look to continue to do that in season 2. Also they have the MVP of season 1 Rameez, who can put on a show any given week.
3. Buzz City: This team is deep has a lot of talent throughout the roster and they also have size. Rookie of the year from season 1 Salman is also on this squad, they should be a top team throughout the season.
4. GPAK: Always known for small ball and the quickness they possess. This year they have some quality bigs, X factor for them is the addition of Danny the man has a motor and can rebound with the best of them.
5. MWA: One of the older teams in the league but a lot of quality experience. They have the familiarity of playing together, but keeping up with the young fresh legs will be the biggest question mark for them.
6. New Era Ballaz: The youngest team in the league with high school experience playing as a unit. Their captain Abdul can flat out ball and will be looking to make the same impact he has in other leagues.
7. Just Dua It: Veteran group of guys with some youth thrown in. The have played other sports together so they have the familiarity, but their biggest issue will be lack of size against some of these teams that have multiple bigs.
8. Bad News Beards: Another older group of guys that will be tested by the youth and athleticism of the league. This team also has some injuries to key players, their success will depend on the health of those guys.
